Therapeutic Botox®

Unlike cosmetic Botox, therapeutic Botox is used to relieve medical conditions such as migraines, headaches, neck pain, and teeth grinding. Botox will help relax your muscles in the jaw and prevent symptoms of TMD such as clenching and grinding teeth.

Temporomandibular disorder (TMD) symptoms include jaw, neck, and shoulder pain, migraines, ringing in ears, muscle spasms, and more. When untreated, TMD can cause damage to teeth, gums, and jaw joints. Therapeutic Botox will help treat TMD by reducing the pain or symptoms associated with it. Although Botox is more commonly used cosmetically to prevent facial muscles from wrinkling, therapeutic Botox has been an effective treatment, relaxing your muscles and nerve activity, and decrease the pain and discomfort in your facial muscles, altogether alleviating common symptoms of TMD. Most patients experience relief within 2 to 4 weeks and treatment will need to be repeated every few months. The required dosage depends on the severity of each individual patient.
